NEW COLLABORATION AFTER 20 YEARS NIKE RELATIONSHIP
A New Era of Style Emerges
During Shanghai Fashion Week, Adidas officially declared the initiation of its collaboration with Clot founder Edison Chen. The first collection under their joint venture, to be recognized as Adidas Originals by Edison Chen, made its debut at Clot's spring 2024 show. While there's a distinct shift in Adidas partnering directly with Chen rather than Clot as a whole, the brand will sever its ties with Nike. A reliable source, familiar with the collaboration, confirmed to Footwear News that the two entities will no longer be in collaboration.
Chen expressed his thoughts in a press release, stating, "With Adidas, we're creating to inspire. I believe the freedom to create is one of the driving forces behind my work. My aesthetic, particularly in recent years, has undergone a complete transformation. This collaboration is both exciting and nerve-wracking for me because it allows me to create from this new perspective. Having immersed myself in the Adidas brand during the summer in Europe, I gained a fresh outlook. The new EDC vibe is more chic than street. After 20 years, I'm more excited than ever."
Strutting into Style
The runway show featured various items from the Adidas x Chen collaboration, including Superstar and Gazelle sneakers. Striped apparel was abundantly showcased, and a bamboo bag featuring the trefoil logo stood out.
Adidas has announced that pieces from the inaugural collection will start hitting the shelves in January.
