FRENCH ARTIST REDESIGNS THE ICONIC GREEN BOTTLE

The Evolution of Iconic Design

Perrier® marks its 160th anniversary with a historic collaboration, inviting French artist Philippe Starck to redesign the iconic bottle for the first time in the brand's history. Starck, renowned for his innovative projects, introduces a captivating glass optical play that combines elegance and character. This limited edition, set to launch in mid-October 2023, reflects Starck's commitment to simplifying daily life through artistic creations. As the inaugural artist granted carte blanche to reimagine the PERRIER bottle, Starck joins a prestigious lineup of artists associated with the brand, including Andy Warhol, Salvador Dalí, and Murakami. The collaboration underscores Perrier's tradition of engaging with influential artists since 1863.

In the newest edition, Philippe Starck adds optical illusions to the Perrier bottle design, drawing inspiration from the 1822 Fresnel lens. Featuring horizontal glass stripes, these elements play with light and bubbles, symbolizing the brand's energy and the mystery of water. Additionally, they improve grip, reflecting Starck's commitment to simplifying daily life.

Bubbles and Stripes

"As a child, I was afraid to hold a glass bottle, fearing it would slip out of my hand. Sometimes I would squeeze them so hard it would hurt. That's why I drew these horizontal stripes. This way, the bottle is as secure in my hand as I am in mine. It's another kind of game. And you'll see: with this new presentation of the bottles, the bubbles are fascinating." Philippe Starck.

The new silhouette draws its appeal from the exploration of the Unknown, in the words of Philippe Starck: "In my project, the Unknown materializes through the idea that each bubble acts like a magnifying glass. By using the structure of a Fresnel lens, I've succeeded in creating an optical dimension that carries with it a veil of fantasy and mystery. The end result is a play of dimensions and optical illusions." The famous water bottle, the fruit of the collaboration with Philippe Starck, will be available from mid-October in two formats: 31.1 cl and 72.7 cl.
